1. The proportion of DDGS feed consumption (mainly replacing soybean meal and corn in the north, replacing meal and corn in the south)
Because the protein content of DDGS is above 26%, it has become a new type of protein feed raw material widely used by feed production enterprises at home and abroad. DDGS is commonly used to replace soybean meal and fishmeal in livestock and poultry and aquatic compound feed. As a raw material for fermented protein, it is not added in the proportion of pigs and poultry materials, but is a rare source of protein for aquatic products and ruminants. As can be seen from the data in the table below, the proportion of DDGS added to pig and poultry feed is below 5%, but the amount used in aquatic products and retort can be increased to 10% or even 15%. Therefore, aquatic products and ruminants are the best use of DDGS, and the addition of an appropriate ratio can reduce the cost of feed and the ratio of feed to meat.
2, DDGS and corn and soybean meal and other protein alternatives
DDGS is not a direct replacement for corn. The energy content of DDGS is low. When DDGS is used to replace part of the corn in the poultry feed formula, the energy level of the feed formula will be reduced unless the insufficient portion of energy is supplemented by the addition of other energy sources (perhaps with edible fat). However, most other nutrients are about three times as high as corn (more than six times as much as available phosphorus). The total amino acid level and digestible amino acid level of DDGS is usually three times that of normal amino acids in corn. Although DDGS typically contains approximately 8-10% crude fat (approximately three times that in corn), the digestible energy level of DDGS is approximately 17% lower than that of corn. DDGS is equivalent to the energy, calcium, phosphorus and methionine content of soybean meal. However, compared with soybean meal, the lysine content is relatively lacking, and the protein content is only half of that of soybean meal. In short, DDGS cannot directly replace corn in poultry diets, but it can replace some corn, soy flour, meat and bone meal, phosphorus, methionine, lysine and some other raw materials. The extent of DDGS utilization depends on the relative prices of the above materials.
